Timothy - Saved by Dignity Memorial Escape School
A mother, who is also a teacher and the wife of a minister, attended a Dignity MemorialŪ Escape SchoolŪ presentation held at Brentwood Funeral Home, the local Dignity Memorial funeral service provider in Nashville. - SUSAN and MARK
Shortly after my son celebrated his tenth birthday, he and his then, six-year-old sister, Kimberly, went to visit my parents in Birmingham, Alabama. My sister, Patsie, and her son Corey also lived in Birmingham. They all went to a public garden so the children could play and relax outside. Around dusk they went to the restroom just before leaving for the night. Timothy and Corey stepped outside the restroom to get some water, when a man grabbed Timothy by the arm and began pulling him behind a tree. Timothy immediately began yelling, "Help, I've been kidnapped!" Corey ran into the ladies' restroom yelling, "Timothy has been kidnapped!" Meanwhile, Timothy took matters into his own hands. He kicked the man in the "privates", pulled his wrist free and ran into the ladies' restroom. He ran right into Patsie who was coming out to find him.
The police were called, but the man escaped.
Although things could have turned out much differently, Timothy had several things working in his favor. First, my husband and I both felt a strong need to pray for our children that day even though we were out of town. We prayed constantly asking God to watch over them. We are so thankful He did. Second, Timothy learned a lot of self-defense moves during the two years he took Tae-Kwon-Do. Last, but not least, is his sister. She had chosen to watch the "Dignity MemorialŪ Escape School" video we had received after attending a live presentation, in the car on the way to Birmingham four
days before this incident occurred. Since he was sitting right next to her, he had no choice but to watch it.
My family is very grateful for the "Dignity Memorial Escape School" program and your willingness to travel all over the country teaching it. Keep up the good work
